HADLEIGH CRICKET CLUB, SUFFOLK Sunday Development XI v Twinstead on Sun 30 Jun 2019 at 1.30pm
HADLEIGH CRICKET CLUB, SUFFOLK Lost By 204 runs

Match report A hot day for a home game to Twinstead. They joined the league three years ago, and gaining promotion every year, and are currently unbeaten at the top. We knew it was going to be a toughie, they scored over 350 against Milden, and then got them all out for 54.
We had a very young team (apart from the usaual oldies), and they were all fully grown men.
Pete had a plan, win the toss, we bat, they get us all out, they chase it down quickly and we all get an early finish. One problem, Pete lost the toss, and Twinstead put themselves into bat!
Ollie and Lewis opened the bowling, and so it was that the batsmen scored 6/over consistantly, Ollie taking the first wicket in the 7th over thanks to a fine catch from his younger brother, Matthew. Ollie was to take his 2nd wicket in the 11th over thanks to a fine catch from Pete.
Taylor had asked for his jumper early in the match, which was unusual on such a hot day, he did admit to feeling unwell and left the pitch at first drinks. We were down to 10 men, to make it worse!
The next wicket fell in the 20th over, when Roger managed to bowl him, whilst he was still laughing from the previous no ball! Halfway, they were 121-3.
All of the Twinstead batsman contributed, and slowly we nicked away at them. Brothers, Lewis and Elliot both took a wicket, and George took one too. We were punished in the final overs, and Twinstead finished on 283-6 off there 40 overs. It was a shame that such a good team, saw it necessary to give some suspect umpiring decisions in their favour. It was what it was.
After a lovely tea (with ice lollies) Elliot and Ollie were sent out to bat. Unfortunately Elliot was caught in the 3rd over, but worse was to come! In the 6th over Lewis, Harry and Pete were all bowled, giving the bowler a hat-trick. We were 24-4.
Ollie was the only one that remained firm, and played very well, going on to be the highest scoring batsman on the day with 24 not out. Highlight of the day was 12 year old Matthew hitting them for 2 x fours. The remaining batsman were all out by the 23rd over for 79.
It's a poor day when Roger is the 2nd highest scoring batsman on 13!

At least we done better than Milden (with only 10 men, including a 12 year old). Looking forward to the return fixture in 2 weeks time already!
