Milden v HADLEIGH CRICKET CLUB, SUFFOLK Sunday Development XI on Sun 13 May 2018 at 1:30pm

Match report A difficult week for selection (aren't they all!) with old boy regulars Roger, Pete & Vinny, all unavailable and most of our regular youngsters revising for exams.
Thankyou to Cal, Jamie, Ben, Bloss and Owen for offering to play again, after already playing Saturday, and to Nadie and Andrew for helping us scrape together a team, for our visit to neighbouring Milden.
Buster assumed captaincy, and won the toss in true Tampion style and put Milden into bat.
Hadleigh opening bowlers Buster and Owen bowled well, however Owen asked to take a rest after only 3 overs (may have been the effect of the previous night's party!) and was replaced by Ben.
Both bowled well and restricted the Milden openers to 19 runs off 13 overs for 1 wicket (Buster). Buster 'The Old Master' produced some excellent bowling figures of 6-5-2-1 (watch and learn boys - watch and learn!). However don't try an copy his catching ability!
Ben too acheived figures of 6-2-9-0. Milden were 47-1 at drinks, still not bad.
Tabs and Bloss were introduced into the bowling line up. Bloss taking the wicket of the 'steady' Milden batsman, which was probably the wrong thing to do! We began to think that Tabs was playing for Milden, but this was due to him getting nothing out of the pitch.
The run rate started to seriously increase, and Milden had improved to 114-2 by the 30th over. This wasn't helped by the fact that No.3 batman was dropped 3 times, much to the disgust of Tony.
Wickets did slowly fall with Ben, Bloss and Nadie all taking 2 wickets each.
Milden finished in the end on a respectible 178-8 off their 40 overs.

After tea, Hadleigh openers Cal and Tony went out to bat. Unfortunately Tony was caught behind in the 5th wicket and was replaced by Jamie. Cal then chopped-on in the 7th over when on 16.
Jamie continued to bat well, unfortunately Nadie, Ben, Andrew and Tabs failed to keep with him. Jamie was bowled in the 30th over having scored a fine 55, with Hadleigh struggling on 105 for 6.
Owen failed to make an impression and was followed in by Dave Levett, Dave chosing one of his 3 bats, supplied by his new bat sponsor 'Fairy Liquid' (other brands are available). With the lubricated grip in place, Dave was struggling to maintain a firm hold of the bat. The bat more likely to go to the boundary than the ball! Bloss was the only batsmen to offer any resistance, scoring 31 not out.
Hadleigh were bowled out for 138 in the 38th over, after Buster was trapped LBW for 0.

Not our greatest moment, but do we care (we're fed up with being top of the league again!)?
