HADLEIGH CRICKET CLUB, SUFFOLK Sunday Development XI v Lavenham on Sun 10 Sep 2017 at 1:30pm
HADLEIGH CRICKET CLUB, SUFFOLK Lost By 38 Runs

Match report With both Pete and Buster away at the Reload Festival (music from the 80's - an era so long ago, even Buster had hair!).
We had a plethora of keen youngsters wanting to play, the decision was made to only play with three 'oldies' (Tony, Jim & Tabs). Fearing the eight youngsters would take some controlling, Tony was chosen to be captain.
Tony won the toss, and elected Lavenham to bat first, on our last game of the season. Arran and Owen were chosen to open the bowling, and both bowled very well. After bowling 5 overs each, Lavenham were on 29. Cory and Tabs were introduced, and bowled well too. Cory took the first wicket in the 17th over with a wicket maiden. At drinks, Lavenham were 60-1, things were looking good.
Unfortunately, as more wickets were taken, more runs were conceded and the spin bowlers were a bit expensive. There were some half chance catches missed, but each bowler took one wicket, with the exception of Arran who took two. Lavenham finished on 174-7 off their 40 overs, a few more than we have liked, but chaseable.
After a nice tea with pizza's and fresh cream scones, Hadleigh openers Tony and Jamie went out to bat, in very poor light and threatening skies.
Tony was bowled in the 2nd over, completely tricked by a slow ball and Taylor was to go in the 5th over to a controversial edged behind (only controversial because umpire Roger didn't hear it, but Taylor walked anyway - good sportsmanship). Jim and Harry made brief appearances, but at drinks Hadleigh were 51-4. This coincided with a downpour, which stopped play, and ceased as soon as the covers were wheeled on!
The Hadleigh batsman returned, but wickets continued to fall in the fine drizzle that returned, and the light diminished. Jamie went for 25, Owen 17, Tabs 14, Harry 13 and Arran 17 not out. Hadleigh were bowled out for 136 in the 35th over. Had we continued, a bell in the ball was required and miner's helmets for the batsmen.
A disappointing result for the last game of the season, which had no effect on our league position. We finished a fine 2nd, and up to league 3 we go.
Well done everyone.
