Stowupland II v HADLEIGH CRICKET CLUB, SUFFOLK Sunday Development XI on Sun 30 Jul 2017 at 1:30pm

Match report A landmark game for the Sunday Academy team - for the first time in 7 years, the team had to play without a Tampion! We checked with the league, and special dispensation was given for us to play Tampionless. We were Lockeless as well, so 5 regular players missing, selection was going to be fun!
Thanks to Tyson Anderson, and previous super-sub Kevin Harris for standing up, and Dan and Jamie for standing down, to play Sunday.
Vinny was given the captaincy, and off to mid table Stowupland on a cloudy, breezy day. Vinny won the toss, and put Stowupland into bat.
Cory and Tabs opened the bowling, runs came thick and fast, the opening batsmen punishing anything not on the mark. Our breakthrough came in the 5th over, when Cory took the wicket of the opening batsmen by a fine catch. The replacement batsman was then caught for a duck in the 7th over. Unfortunately the next batsman was far better. Various bowlers being punished by batsmen no. 2 & 4, the 2 senior men taking them to 150 at drinks. We were looking at over a 300 run chase here!
It was the introduction of Jamie, with his cheeky leg-spin that made the breakthrough, bowling the batsman out behind his legs for 81 (Shane Warne eat your heart out). Jamie was also to take the wicket of batsman no.4, with a fine catch from Dan, for 71.
The runrate did slow, but not by much, various catching opportunities were not taken, Tabs landed heavily on his shoulder attempting a catch - we were all worried for a fraction of a second!
Stowupland were to finish on 268-7 off their 40 overs. Jamie was to finish with 3 wickets, and Cory and Kevin with a pair each.
After tea, Hadleigh openers Dan and Jamie went out to bat, we were relying heavily on good contributions from the 2 youngsters. All went well for the first 7 overs, until Jamie lost his wicket on 14, Dan continued to play good shots, but was also to lose his wicket in the 10th over having scored a quick 32. Tabs made a quick 12, but it was only Andy who was to provide any resistance scoring a fine 31 not out, as all the other batsmen around him failed.
Hadleigh were all out for 128 in the 36th over.
We may have fallen out of the promotion zone - gutted. And we are possibly Tampionless for next week too (only Buster can save us - Eileen is away as well!)
