HADLEIGH CRICKET CLUB, SUFFOLK Sunday Development XI v Woolpit Academy on Sun 04 Jun 2017 at 1:30pm
HADLEIGH CRICKET CLUB, SUFFOLK Won By 38 Runs

Match report An easier week for team selection, but not many youngsters available. So a very senior development team (collective age of almost 450 years) met at Friars meadow.
Two new 'senior' players joining us for the first time - Jim Lane and Andy Bottley.
Pete lost the toss again (2nd time this season) and Hadleigh were put into bat. The Locke father/son duo went into open the batting, a good steady start was made with the two Locke's scoring very evenly. It wasn't until the 18th over that Tony lost his wicket on 33 and Taylor followed 3 overs later on 39, but a good footing made. Tabs was to score 11, but Arran's recent good form came to an end when he was bowled to his 2nd ball!
Jim Lane batted well, but was run out on 11, and Buster made a swift 14, only Andy remaining solid at the middle. Unfortunately the remaining tail order lost their wickets cheaply and Hadleigh finished on 167 after their 40 overs. Andy on 16 not out, not bad for his debut match.
Tea was taken, sourced and prepared by Angie. The pizza's were especially nice, cooked to perfection in the disconnected cooker!
A youthful Woolpit went out to bat, but progress was slow due to some fine bowling from Cory and Buster. Cory and Tony were both to take 3 x wickets each, and Roger and Buster one a piece. Buster's figures being especially impressive, with him only conceding 10 runs in his 10 overs!
Taylor was introduced in the 30th over when Woolpit were on 79, and had the over from hell, conceding 21 runs. He declined another over!
Fielding highlights were Tabs dropping 2 catches (he was offered a drink after the match, but declined in case he dropped it!), Pete taking a good catch before rolling over the ball and hurting his ribs, Arran took a good catch and some sharp wicket keeping from Jim.
Woolpit were to finish on 129. Another good win for Hadleigh, but credit to the Woolpit youngsters who played very well.
After the match, Tony got very excited about the new showers!
