Battisford II v HADLEIGH CRICKET CLUB, SUFFOLK Sunday Development XI on Sun 14 Aug 2016 at 1:30pm
HADLEIGH CRICKET CLUB, SUFFOLK Won By 5 Wickets

Match report A beautiful day for a game of cricket at, difficult-to-find, Battisford (The Delia Smith Pavilion you know!).
Pete lost the toss again (I don't know why we keep him really!) and Battisford elected to bat first (we like to chase anyway).
Hadleigh opening bowlers, Arran and Cory, started well, Cory bowling 2 consecutive maidens for starters and helped to keep the run rate down to just 2 an over. It was Cory too, that was to take the 1st wicket in the 8th over. It was the introduction of Tabs into the bowling that reaped rewards, with him taking 2 x wickets in his 2nd over, with 2 fine catches from Harry Lloyd.
At drinks, Battisford were on 60 for 3, things were looking good.
Tabs was to take his 3rd wicket with a 'falling like a chimney' caught and bowled effort.
The wicket of the innings, was definitely a fine running catch along the boundary (at head height) by Taylor, off Cory's bowling, to dismiss the Battisford Captain. A very alert Owen was also to stump a batsmen out, who had gone for a walk up the pitch. After this, wickets fell steadily, Cory was on a hat-trick, but bowled a deliberate bad ball, so as not to buy a jug. Battisford were all out for 127 in the 38th over, Cory and Tabs taking 4 x wickets each, and Arran a pair. All bowlers were economical too (with the exception of Tony - shame on him!).
After a very nice tea (not Delia's unfortunately), Hadleigh opening batsmen, Tony and Taylor went out to bat. Progress was good and runs scored at a far higher rate than what was required. Tony was to unfortunately lose his wicket in the 6th over, when the ball popped up off an edge directly into the wicket keepers gloves. Nick Bigg took his place and the pair continued to score well. A mighty 6 almost hitting the 2 grumpy old men (MG & Birdy) who were filming their latest blockbuster, with their backs to the game, on the boundary. Hadleigh were on 97 at drinks. Biggy was to eventually lose his wicket on a respectable 32, and Taylor shortly afterwards on 31. The damage was done.
Tabs came in and hit 2 boundaries before being given out LBW (he was sure it took an inside edge). Vinny made a decent quick 17, but it was a very sensible innings from Harry Lloyd, scoring 23 not out (with a little help from Arran) that got Hadleigh over the line in the 28th over.
Back to 3rd in the league again (Captain Pete says we don't want promotion again!) and 2 away games left to play.
Thankyou to our many supporters (and many dogs) that turned up to support us.
