HADLEIGH CRICKET CLUB, SUFFOLK Sunday Development XI v Worlington Academy on Sun 24 Apr 2016 at 1:30pm
HADLEIGH CRICKET CLUB, SUFFOLK Won By 10 Wickets

Match report First game of the season for the newly promoted (and newly named) Sunday 'Development' XI team, at home to Worlington Academy.
Team selection a bit easier than last year, with Captain Pete deciding to take a sabbatical and to give his place to a youngster. So it was, that five young boys and six old boys took to the pitch to field, after Captain-for-the-day Buster had won the toss.
It was bloody freezing!
Buster picked nephew Arran (no favouritism) to open the bowling, and bowled the opening batsman with his 4th ball!
Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals. Gladders, 'Chocolates' Thornton and Buster all taking a pair, and Shanksy, Roger, Arran and Tony all taking a single wicket.
Roger's first bowl was a 'Barnes Wallis' ball, bouncing many times before hitting the confused batsman's stumps. After a short discussion about how many times it had actually bounced, Roger was given the benefit of doubt, it was decided that only 2 bounces had occurred, and the unlucky batsman dismissed. Roger was suitably shamed!
The only other noteworthy occurrence was that batsman #6 for Worlington, did manage to stop his batting partners well hit ball, with his ribcage! After a rest, he did go on to make his teams highest score, and was not out.
Worlington were bowled out in the 39th over, for 123 runs.
After a very nice tea, in a very nice warm pavilion (we put the heaters on, it was that bloomin cold), Hadleigh openers Tony and Shanksy (about 12" taller than last year) went out to bat.
A successful partnership it was, Daniel going on to make 77 not out, including a six, and Tony, a steady 28 not out (also with a six). Hadleigh passed the Worlington total in the 22nd over, without losing a wicket. The winning runs being hit by Daniel with a cheeky reverse sweep. Daniel also broke the world record for the length of time taken to tie a single shoelace!
A good game, played in a good manner by both teams (shame it wasn't a bit warmer).
Well done Sunday Development (though some are in need of more development, than others!)
