HADLEIGH CRICKET CLUB, SUFFOLK Sunday Development XI v Bury St Edmunds Academy on Sun 20 Jul 2014 at 1.30 pm
HADLEIGH CRICKET CLUB, SUFFOLK Won By 1 Wicket (Hadleigh had to conceed before playing a friendly match)

Match report We won again!! - well sort off, we conceded the game before we started! It's complicated, let me tell you all about it.
The day started strangely when Gary Girling phoned Roger explaining he was unable to prepare the wicket due to an injury to his groin, so Roger was given some very quick training on garden machinery and wicket preparation, and the job was done.
Then a phone call was received telling us the 1st team had cancelled their match, and an additional player was available to us - good news!
This was followed by another phone call from Gary Wiles, who explained that our match would also have to be conceded! A quick phone call to the Bury captain, who said that it was too late to stop his team leaving, so the game went ahead on a friendly basis.
Vinny assuming captaincy won the toss and put Bury into bat.
Bury scored a regular 5 an over, until the introduction of Fraser into the bowling. Fraser sent the wickets of the opening batsmen flying, at one point he was 4 wickets for 10 runs. He was to finish 4-19, and nominated man of the match by Bury. It was only the stress of buying a jug, that forced him to take a rest.
Bloss also managed to trap their highest scoring batsmen for LBW on 49, spoiling his maiden 50 - shame!
Buster was introduced into the line up, his 5th over being the most eventful. the batsmen scoring 19 off this over, and two catches being dropped during it. Buster was heard to say 'WHY DO I BOTHER?' after the 2nd drop.
Bury were bowled over for 177 in the 35th over.
After tea, Hadleigh openers Gary and Fraser went out to bat. Gary batted very well, and was able to surpass his normal score of 33 by another 30 runs. Unfortunately the captain came into bowl and tore through the middle order, including 3 wicket maidens. How relieved we were when his 10 overs were complete, he finished 5-28.
By now respectable scores by Kevin, Fraser, Bloss and Tabs had put Hadleigh in reach of a win. Buster and Vinny were able to fend off the attack, and sensibly batted to win the game for us, with 1 over remaining.
A win, but no tee shirt!
Bury scored the pitch 17 out of 20. Woo-Hoo for Groundsman Rog!
