Bury St Edmunds Academy v HADLEIGH CRICKET CLUB, SUFFOLK Sunday Development XI on Sun 25 May 2014 at 1.30 pm
HADLEIGH CRICKET CLUB, SUFFOLK Lost By 32 Runs

Match report A trip to the home of Suffolk cricket (and our favourite team) - Bury. Much to our delight, no box container to change in this year, instead a splendid new pavilion with very nice changing rooms!
Captain Pete won the toss as normal (getting a bit boring now!) and put Bury into bat. A very good start for Hadleigh, with only 22 runs on the board at 10 overs. Bury started to up the ante and they were on 73-1 at drinks, things were still looking good!
It was during this period, that a mighty 6 was hit into a garden, Gary went and asked for the ball back, but the home owner said no! Gary reasoned that he wasn't a Bury player and eventually the ball was returned, though he did keep an eye on us through binoculars.
Roger was introduced to bowl in the 25th over, his personal best figures (gained only the week before) were soon forgotten when he was dispatched for two consecutive 6's off his first 2 balls! Unfortunately as wickets fell, superior batsmen arrived and everyone's bowling figures suffered. Bury finished on 268, with the loss of only 4 wickets.
Tea was taken in the new hi-rise pavilion, the bar did look enticing!
Hadleigh's turn to bat, and hopes were not high! We got off to a good start surprisingly, at 10 overs we had 68 runs, and 133 at drinks. We were on course! Gary scored his now normal 33, Ollie scored a very respectable 45 (including 3 x sixes). Bloss and Kevin had a very good partnership scoring 55 and 40 respectfully, Kevin hitting 2 x mighty sixes before being bowled. Bury had now introduced 2 very economical bowlers, and the required run rate climbed.
Vinny scored 15 before being run out, leaving Roger and Captain Pete to get 30 off the last 2 overs. Pete hit a good ball to mid-off, and a quick single was taken, unfortunately the first direct hit of the day finished Hadleigh's innings on 236. A gallant effort.
We retired to the bar and agreed that the game was the best one we've had against Bury, and played in almost the correct manner (and no Premier League Prima-Dona's to spoil it!).
