HADLEIGH CRICKET CLUB, SUFFOLK Sunday 1st XI (No team) v Mildenhall on Sun 16 Jun 2013 at 1.30

Match report A strong side coupled with bodies devoid of alcoholic residues allowed Hadleigh to overcome their competitive rivals in this Div 1 clash at Friars Road.
Skipper MG again failed with the coin toss, which has led to suggestions that a weighted royal head might not go amiss next time the side play at home. Its now just one toss won in 18 months. The opposition decided to bat on a firm track and steadily built their total .Fortunately Simon Gladwell picked up an important wicket caught and bowled which probably kept the rate down a little , although good batting from Mildenhall's youngsters late on led to a score of 205 for 2 after 40 overs . Good bowling as ever by reliable David 'birdy' Bird and a good spell, on his debut, by Tommy Newbigging claiming his first wicket helped keep Mildenhall in check somewhat.
Josh Davey set about the bowling with sober intent and reached his half century in 18 overs . Unfortunate dismissals to the two openers either side of the drinks break and an ever increasing run rate meant Ryan Phillips, just back from farming in Afghanistan and Alex Milnes had to push on which they did before both of those batsmen fell close to each other . The reigns were then taken up by Kyle Tanner and Tim Rix who took on the challenge of 83 from the last 10 overs with some cultured stroke play , good running between the wickets and some hefty Biffing over the boundary ropes(white line as is).
Tim Rix fell just short of the winning total but Tom Piddington and KT saw it through with the latter hitting a huge 6 to seal the victory with 7 balls to spare.
This sits us comfortably in 3rd place in the league. With the top two of Woolpit and Sudbury yet to lose it still leaves the side with a great chance of challenging at the top as they have to go to Woolpit next month and also entertain sudbury at the end of the season . The cup competition is down to a one match shoot out as either ourselves or Walsham Le Willows with a victory in the july cup round match will take a place in league cup final to be played against either aforementioned Woolpit or Sudbury at a venue to be confirmed. It would be great to finish the season off with a final. No game for the next two weeks for the Sunday 1sts . So we'll see you all in July.
