The U19's had a great day at the T20 Blast finals day hosted by BSE CC on bank holiday Monday. Bury did a fantastic job of hosting the day and should be congratulated on a smoothly run and exciting days cricket. HCC played Easton in their semi final and this turned out to be an exciting game. In truth we choked a little posting 118 which looked to be 30 odd short of par , Easton took 20 off the first over which emphasised that 118 was probably a tad light however the following overs were real well bowled and the level of fielding first class , all 11 players making an impact resulting in Easton being bowled out short of the required 118. We played BSE in the final and this was always going to be a difficult task with BSE fielding 6 players with East Anglian Premier League experience but cricket can be a funny old game. At 73 for 3 we were doing well but then the BSE bowlers hit their straps and our innings fell away resulting in us posting 96. The guys never gave up and took the game long to make BSE work hard to over haul our score which they eventually did. Well done BSE on winning the blast competition.
The whole squad should be pleased with their performances in the blast this year playing 6 games in total and winning 5. Thanks should go to team manager (Richard Shanks) scorers (Andrew Colcomb and Brian Fowler) Pete Tampion for the music at our home games and of course the parents who provided transport and support throughout the competition. But above all well done to all the U19 squad , well captained this year by Callum Morrin and congratulations on reaching an ECB national competition final.
